The Oundle Swim Club had a busy and successful week, beginning with the annual Whitgift School Invitation Gala. Following on from last year’s success, the boys squad won the Invitation Swimming Trophy for the second year in a row.

Julian (C) Captain, Ethan (Ldr), Alfie (C), Alex (Sc) placed 1st in five of their six races, including three individuals and two relays, and won the competition by 31 points. The girls squad also had a very strong performance, placing 2nd in three of their races, including a relay.

Then a few days later, the club travelled to Stratford to compete in the National Bath and Otter Cup at the London Aquatic Centre, home to the 2012 Olympic Games. Continuing their great run, the boys reached the final of the 100m Front Crawl relay and finished a notable 7th place. They then qualified for the Medley relay final and finished a superb fourth place.

The girls came 16th in the Freestyle relay in which over seventy schools compete, achieving three personal bests in the Freestyle and a further three personal bests in the Medley relay, breaking both school relay records to cap a fine day of racing.
