We are delighted that Oundle School has once again been included in the Tatler Schools Guide 2027, which celebrates leading schools across the UK.
Tatler visited Oundle earlier this year and this year’s review captures something central to the character of the School: a place where intellectual ambition sits alongside groundedness, kindness and a genuine breadth of opportunity.
The review describes Oundle pupils as “grounded and hard-working and definitely not entitled or arrogant”, while also recognising the scope they have to explore their interests, discover new ones and develop as individuals. As one pupil quoted in the review reflects:
“I love that it focuses on creating well-rounded individuals above all else. You can find hundreds of schools that are grade factories, but you’d be hard pressed to find one that provided opportunities to grow, pursue one’s interests and develop character on the scale that’s found here.”
Tatler also notes Head Dominic Oliver’s first year at Oundle, recognising his emphasis on balancing intellectual ambition with kindness and his belief that “schools are people-places”.
It is a description which feels particularly true to Oundle: ambitious without being a hot house, rich in opportunity and, above all, shaped by the people who make up its community.
