Ahead of registering your child, we highly recommend that you visit us in person, not just to see the different physical aspects of the School but more importantly to meet the people who shape it. For those families at the start of their admissions journey, attending a virtual Q&A with the Head and our pupils or an Open Morning is ideal for getting an initial feel for the School. Most families register two to three years ahead of entry but many apply outside of these timeframes, especially at 11+ or 16+.
We will always work with our families openly and honestly with regard to the places we have available and whether Oundle is a good fit for your child. Once you have visited and are registered with us, we shall ensure to keep you apprised of key dates and events, including any relevant scholarship and bursary applications. At all times, the Admissions team is available by email or phone to guide you on individual applications or answer general entry queries.
We welcome families from all parts of the UK, as well as overseas, and we appreciate that visiting us in person may not always be simple. Our relaxed and informal virtual Q&A sessions give an excellent introduction to Oundle from the comfort of your own home. The panel includes the Head, the Registrar, current pupils and subject-specific staff, and we encourage parents and their children to ask questions in real time. The next virtual Q&A session will be held on Saturday 11 September for 16+ entry.
Once you are ready, we recommend visiting Oundle in person to gain a fuller insight into our community and the beautiful market town of which we are an intrinsic part. Families are welcomed by the Registrar before having a tour of the School, including dedicated time with a Housemaster or Housemistress and other members of staff by arrangement. All tours conclude back in the Admissions Office with the Registrar. Families are provided with lunch before or after their visit, depending on the time of day.
To ensure that your visit is as meaningful and informative as possible, please do take the time to give us as much detail as possible about your child so that we can tailor your visit, such as a meeting with the Directors of Music or Sport, or meetings to discuss scholarships and bursaries.
Given the continuing pandemic, adjustments have been made to our usual programme and numbers of visitors are currently restricted to help keep everyone safe. Please rest assured that we take very possible precaution to ensure that all of our Admissions visits are Covid-secure. In order to help us keep our community safe, and in addition to following our visitor protocol, we highly recommend that you record a negative result through a lateral flow test the evening or morning before your visit. We appreciate that this may be an unwelcome burden, but your support in minimising any possible risk to our school community is greatly appreciated. Lateral flow tests can easily be obtained from your local pharmacy; further details can be found here: https://maps.test-and-trace.nhs.uk.
