We are pleased to have once again been awarded Green Level Accreditation by Investors in the Environment, recognising our continued progress in reducing environmental impact and embedding sustainable practice across our community.
The independent audit recognised significant year-on-year reductions in resource use, including a 10 percent reduction in electricity consumption, a 3 percent reduction in gas use, and a 26 percent reduction in food waste. It also highlighted the strength of Oundle’s environmental management systems and the breadth of pupil-led environmental and social projects taking place across the School.
Investors in the Environment noted that sustainability is actively considered in planning, decision-making, and day-to-day operations, providing a strong foundation for long-term sustainable development within a busy, seven-day boarding environment.
The accreditation supports Oundle’s wider sustainability ambitions, including expanding the scope of its carbon footprint measurement, strengthening long-term sustainability planning, and increasing access to sustainability-focused training for both staff and pupils. Dominic Oliver, Head, said:
“Our approach to environmental sustainability at Oundle is grounded in a simple idea. We take care of the place we share; that means both the community we live in and the wider world around us. This accreditation recognises the steady work of pupils and staff this year and the real impact of their efforts. It also spurs us on in our commitment to building on that work in the months ahead.”
