The Oundle Boat Club enjoyed success at the start of the season at the Isle of Ely Head Race on the River Great Ouse on Sunday 6th November for the first rowing event of the school year.

The three competing crews from Oundle began the afternoon with a 6km paddle from the boating area to the start line, and concluded their races with impressive finishes.

One of the J16 coxed fours achieved first place over the 5km course in the Mens Open Coxed Four category, as there was no equivalent junior category offered at this event: Zac (S), Sam (L), Leo (Ldr), Josh Coulter (L), Harry (C). The second quad came fifth in the same category.

These were both impressive results, given that both were J16 crews pitted against crews from other age groups.

The J17 girls quad achieved third place, with two in the crew who were actually graded J16.

The Rowing Club is now back to training and looking forward to the race at Newark Head in December.
