For the second and third years in a row, Oliver Gibbard (L) and Thomas Kan (B) both qualified for the finals of the UK Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge at Oxford University.
In the first round held at school, pupils were given an allotted time to solve as many problems as possible. From 260,000 participants, only the top 50 in each age category were invited to the finals at Oxford for a further round of challenging problem-solving questions based on computing principles.
Oliver and Thomas performed exceptionally well on the final’s harder tests, but didn’t quite make the top three. Peter Millican, professor of philosophy at Hertford College, Oxford presented the finalist certificates at a prize-giving ceremony.
