We’re delighted with the news that our boys’ U16 hockey squad has qualified for the England Hockey Championship National Plate Final. This is a fantastic sporting achievement for the team and highlights the excellent season the team has enjoyed to date. The squad earned their place in the Final following outstanding performances against a number of challenging opponents. These included Uppingham 2-1, Abingdon 3-1 after penalty shuffles, away to Felsted 3-1 in the quarter-final and then 5-2 away at Bishop Vesey’s  Grammar in the semi-final.

Coaches Mr Talbot and Mr Foad praised the boys’ resolve and tenacity during their semi-final victory, commenting:

“At 3-0 up the side were in complete control but when Bishop Vesey’s pulled it back to 3-2, lesser sides might have struggled. However, this team continued to do what they have done all season – they and went on to find the goals to professionally close out the match in emphatic fashion.”

The squad will now play the winners of the Kingswood v Claremont semi-final at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre on the London Olympic Park on Thursday 23 April at 1530.
