Rohan Dahiya (L) has not only been selected for the National Youth Orchestra for the second year running, but this year he was also offered the distinction of the principal tuba seat.

Described as “awe-inspiring”, technically brilliant, “exuberant and exhilarating”, the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain is the premier platform for talented young musicians, who are given outstanding opportunities to perform at the nation’s best venues.

Rohan began playing the tuba in Year 3 at Laxton Junior School and is now working towards his Diploma in 2022. Before he joined the NYO, he was a member of the prestigious National Children’s Orchestra, where he performed at venues such as the Barbican and Symphony Hall, Birmingham. He has also played with the Junior Prime Brass and the National Youth Concert Band.

In addition to the tuba, Rohan is working towards the Diploma in drumkit at the end of this year and has completed Grade 8 percussion. He’s applying for mathematics at university, but plans to continue his music, looking for seats with new orchestras.
