We are delighted to recognise the outstanding achievements of this year’s (I)GCSE cohort in public examinations.

A record 35% of all grades awarded were grade 9, while 61% were grades 9 or 8 and 80% were graded 9-7. The most common grade was grade 9, with the average grade across all entries being 7.6.

At an individual level, twelve pupils achieved the remarkable feat of securing 11 straight grade 9s, 40 pupils achieved straight grades 9 and 8, while a further 34 pupils achieved straight grades 9-7. More than 50 pupils secured an average GCSE grade of 8.5 or higher.

In the Humanities, over 50% of grades were awarded at grade 9, while every pupil taking GCSE Russian secured grade 9.

Dominic Oliver, Head, commented:

“These are exceptional results and a tremendous achievement by our pupils. They reflect the depth of talent within the year group, as well as the effort and dedication with which they have approached their studies, supported throughout by their teachers and families. We congratulate every member of the cohort on all they have achieved and look forward to welcoming the vast majority back in September as they begin their Sixth Form studies at Oundle.”

These results follow last week’s excellent A level outcomes, in which 27% of grades awarded were A* or equivalent, 64% were A*-A and 86% were A*-B. The vast majority of pupils immediately secured places at one of their chosen universities, including twelve pupils bound for Oxford or Cambridge.
