On Sunday, the Oundle School Boat Club had a fantastic day at the Nottingham Masters and Club Regatta at the National Watersports Centre (Holme Pierrepont).

The Club took six crews to compete in five events and came away with three wins over the 1000m multi-lane course.

Admirably, in two races the pupils overcame last minute crew changes and a disappointing start to pull through and win medals all round.

In the J16 4x, two boys in the crew were ill and unable to race, so Jenny (K) and Eleanor (L) from the 2x were substituted in at last minute. The crew immediately clicked, and had a great row to take the win comfortably.

The winning girls WJ15 4x+ showed great determination after a bad start with a ‘shipwreck’ (not quite ‘a crab’) in the first strokes put them down the field of five crews. They showed incredible spirit to row back to the front and cross the line in first place.
