Matty Somerville-Cotton (D) put in an impressive performance at the English Schools Athletic Association (ESAA) East Anglia regionals for combined events held at the Rockingham Triangle Stadium, Corby at the end of June. She ran a very competitive 800m in 2.27.20, and with a final score of 3952, she came third overall in the Senior Girls Heptathlon, qualifying for the English Schools national finals in September.

This is the first time Matty has qualified for national competition, and is a significant achievement. Her training at Corby AC has been minimal because of the Covid restrictions at School, and there have been limited opportunities to compete this season, but she received extra support from the athletics staff to continue her preparation for competition.

The National Combined Events Championships will be held on 18-19 September at the Bedford International Athletics Stadium, where 270 athletes will each compete in five to ten events.
