McLaren Automotive’s material STEM ambassador, Ella Podmore, talked to the Scott Society about her work as a material engineer, encouraging pupils about what is possible in our careers if we stay determined and motivated.
She talked us through the academic path to studying for a four-year degree in engineering at university and how she landed her job as the first and only materials engineers at McLaren Automotive, where she has worked on their 720S.
Ms Podmore was brimming with enthusiasm about her work as an engineer, the thrilling perks of being able to test-drive the most exclusive cars in the world, and her inspiring work as an ambassador promoting STEM, particularly in bringing more girls into the field, leaving us more motivated to consider our own career paths in the ground-breaking fields of science, engineering, IT and design technology.
