Ken Zhao (StA) and Evan Ball (G) successfully completed the British Physics Olympiad BPhO Round 1 competition, achieving outstanding results as two of the top 50 performers in the UK.

The exam took place in November, and consisted of two papers over 2 hours and 40 minutes. The papers are designed to be a challenge of skill, ability and preparedness.

Both pupils were awarded the Top Gold 50 certificate, placing them in the top 5% nationally.

As two of the top 50 performers they have been invited to complete the British Physics Olympiad Round 2 paper in January, which could lead to the Oxford training camp for the fifteen best competing physicists in the country.
