In the last week of the Easter holiday, 24 pupils travelled with three members of staff to the Catalunya Tennis Resort in northeastern Spain for five days of pre-season training.

Every day involved four hours of intensive coaching on red clay courts, which was a new surface for most of the players. The coaching was first rate, covering technique, drills and match play, and the pupils all made clear improvements with their tennis.

Barely a cloud was seen in the sky all week but the pupils coped well with the conditions and were responsive to the tuition which they were given. Miranda Joicey (W) was chosen by the coaches as the player of the tour from the many very deserving, high performing pupils.
