Eleven Upper Sixth Form swimmers took to the pool last weekend and swam in relay continuously for 24 hours to raise money for the NHS Charities Together. We picked this charity because NHS staff, patients and communities have been hit especially hard during this turbulent Covid era. It was our hope that this single effort on our part would help raise awareness of the continued effort of our fantastic health service. So far, we have raised £2,753 for the charity.

The swim was organised and led by captains Izzy (L) and Chuan (F), and vice-captain Carys (K). Also participating were Matthew (G), Kai (F), Gabriel (S), Joseph (L), Issy (Sn), Isabel (K), Jasper (L) and Kento (StA).

Over the 24 hours, we swam 3,550 lengths between us, which equates to 85.2 km – roughly from Oundle to Hunstanton as the crow flies. Swimming the furthest was our boys captain, Chuan, who swam 407 lengths – almost 10 km.

The challenge was met with incomparable determination from the swimmers, and fantastic support from friends and family alike.
