The annual match v Uppingham at Rye on April 8th, 2026, during Halford Hewitt week for their respective teams’ supporters is contested for the Copestick-Gotla salver and is increasingly popular, now at 12 per side.

Played in beautiful weather as foursomes according to handicap and competed over all 18 as holes up or down, the score was lying at +2 for the Old Uppinghamians until the last result was given – +5!

Thus, the salver was won back again, although we found out at lunch that the OUs had taken the wrong trophy to Rye!

Peter Pentecost & Jonathan Simpson-Dent                                 0

Steve Carr & Fred Domellof                                                         -3

Jeremy Monroe & Nick Copestick                                                +4

John Crawley & Shane Dodd                                                        +5

William King & Mark Dixon                                                          +3

Match Result: OOGS won +3 and regain the trophy – hopefully we’ll get it sometime!
