Old Eastbournians 140.  Oundle Rovers 145-8.

Won by two wickets.

The Rovers will play Old Millfieldians (away) on Sunday 12 July in The Cricketer Cup quarter final.

The Old Eastbournians were defeated on Sunday in spite of a dramatic Rovers batting collapse with the victory line in sight. James Esler’s highly aggressive 65 and Will Park’s 25 looked to have won the game at 99 for 1.

10 overs and seven wickets later veteran Jules Mcalpine and debutant Freddie Bowser scrambled the Rovers over the line by two wickets.

Earlier in the day the Rovers had bowled and fielded superbly. Mcalpine picked  up 3 wickets, including one to the second ball of the game, Charlie Fernandes and Will Park 2 each and Jack Howard and Tommy Simeons 1 each. Captain Fernandes also removed Eastbourne’s other opening bat with a superb direct hit runout. The Rovers were both relieved and delighted to progress to Millfield.
