The Rovers have announced an exciting squad for the main Beechbrook Capital Cricketer Cup competition, which will be captained by Will Street. Vice-captain is Charlie Fernandes and the squad includes his younger brother, Simon, who currently has a professional contract with Essex CCC. Three members of this year’s School 1st XI have been selected for their debuts. Bertie Case, Hugh Hayward and Will Wears will be eligible for the Cricketer Cup from the second round after an adjustment to the competition’s eligibility rules. The Rovers reached the final in both 2019 and 2021 and remain the third most successful club, as measured by most games won, in the history of the prestigious competition. This places them ahead of all of the schools on Oundle’s traditional cricket circuit.
The Rovers’ campaign begins at Oundle against the Old Wykehamists on June 14th, 11.30am start. Supporters are strongly encouraged on the day. Afternoon tea will be served in the JM Mills Pavilion during the second innings.
The full Rovers fixture list for the season is now available on the website and includes the traditional School fixture and a double header in early July against Uppingham Rovers and Leicester Gents.
