Joe Thomas (OO) is a visiting lecturer in Literature and Creative Writing at Royal Holloway, University of London. He lived and taught in São Paulo for ten years, where his second detective novel is set. Gringa, with shades of Don Winslow and James Ellroy, is a portrait of São Paulo in all its harshness and dysfunction, its corruption and social divisions.
