{"id":5387,"date":"2026-08-04T14:34:22","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T13:34:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oundleschool.org.uk\/society\/?p=5387"},"modified":"2026-08-04T14:57:45","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T13:57:45","slug":"oogs-vs-old-salopians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oundleschool.org.uk\/society\/2026\/08\/04\/oogs-vs-old-salopians\/","title":{"rendered":"OOGS v Old Salopians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Trentham GC<\/p>\n<p>Monday August 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, 2026<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A glorious day for the fourth annual match in the series but unfortunately, Oundle could not regain the Coronation 2023 Plate from Shrewsbury who proved too strong despite a generous handicapping allowance for visitors.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Trentham was in marvellous condition with fast running fairways and greens while the weather remained sunny for the most part but perhaps a little too warm in the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The morning games were played under the Pinehurst Foursomes format (Google it!) resulting in three close matches. Nick and Shane managed a big win, against the Shrewsbury President and Captain \u2013 some revenge for Nick after a reversal of this score in the Burles match in June against Peter Worth. A welcome half point was gained by newcomer Mark with veteran Bob, although they felt they should have done better.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After a tasty lunch, 4BBB, things began well for Oundle when Doddy holed his 8 iron on the 1<sup>st<\/sup> for a net 2!
