QUALITY AT LJS

Links between LJS and Oundle School continue to be strengthened year on year. LJS pupils benefit greatly from the extended facilities of the senior school, including opportunities afforded within the renowned STEM facility of SciTec and also sport. Subject leaders at LJS connect with colleagues at Oundle School to create deep and meaningful subject links and exciting opportunities for children.

Oundle staff and pupils provide after school language clubs in Spanish, Chinese, Arabic and Latin. Through the Oundle School Community Action programme, many Oundelians come to LJS on a weekly basis to support learning in a range of lessons and activities, providing the Schools’ youngest children with the best possible role models. Many of these pupils were at LJS before moving up to Oundle and actively choose to keep in touch with LJS and their former teachers through these links.

What our pupils think

I look back on LJS with a great fondness. It was a friendly school with lots going on. Particular highlights for me were sports day, school trips and playing on the adventure playground in summer. The interests I developed at LJS, like playing chess and numerous sports, definitely equipped me for Oundle.

A BRIEF HISTORY

Laxton Junior School opened its doors in September 1973 in Old Dryden on North Street.

In September 2002, LJS moved into its new building in East Road, on the five-acre site of the old Laundimer paddock, enabling the school to double its capacity. It was officially opened by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr George Carey.
