To start in September 2024, we are seeking an exceptional Teacher of Economics who is able to develop and inspire our pupils, and who wishes to participate in and contribute to the life of the School as a whole. 

The role

We are seeking an exceptional Teacher of Economics to develop and inspire our pupils and be part of our vibrant School community. In return for your dedication and expertise, you can expect to be highly valued and offered further development and support throughout your career.

This will be on a fixed term contract to act as sabbatical cover between September and December 2024.

Should you be successful you will be required to carry out the general professional duties of a school teacher under the reasonable direction of the Head and to perform such particular duties that from time to time which may reasonably be assigned you by the Head. You would teach approximately 42 periods per fortnight in addition to committing to contribute to the co-curricular life and pastoral support provided by the School.

The department

Economics is the second largest A level subject at Oundle. The department is committed to promoting an inclusive and engaging education, where learning is not limited to inside the classroom. Lessons are designed to be intellectually challenging and stimulating, to inspire and motivate pupils to achieve their individual potential. Teachers are expected to apply theory to real life concepts and offer pupils the chance to explore and better understand the world around them.

The town

Oundle is a historic market town in Northamptonshire, famous for its beautiful Georgian streets and impressive limestone buildings. The town has a spirited cultural life, with an annual international festival, literature festival, and frequent performances of nationally touring shows at the School’s Stahl theatre. The town has a range of independent shops, coffee houses, pubs and eateries. Encircled by the river Nene, the town is also blessed to be surrounded by beautiful countryside with many picturesque villages nearby.
