Consider the admissions process as based on mutual trust. We want the best for your child and your family, so please do share with us anything that might affect your decisions during any stage. We always aim to plan for our final annual intake fairly and thoroughly, with as few waiting lists as possible to give parents certainty of a secured place. In our years of experience, accuracy of House lists are best achieved if we work in honest partnership with our prospective families.
Gain a sense of Oundle and whether it is the right fit for you/your child. Oundle is a selective school which sets great store by intellectual curiosity and an appetite for both learning and getting involved in life outside the curriculum.
Perusing the website will help answer some of the questions you will no doubt have. Do speak to the Head of your current school, as he or she will be well placed to advise on whether your child will thrive at Oundle.
Visit us in person and meet our pupils and staff to give you an informed insight into an Oundle education.
We are incredibly proud of the warm-hearted, talented, aspirational and lively people whom we have the privilege of calling Oundelians and there is no comparision to seeing the School in action. All tours and Open Days are arranged through the Admissions Office, ensuring that you will also have every opportunity to ask questions not only about the School but the entrance process itself.
Ensure you are as prepared as possible, as far in advance as possible. Do familiarise yourself with the entrance requirements for your preferred entry point.
As a rule, we advise registration three years in advance of year of entry, especially at 13+. The Registrar will always help advise on House choice but it is worth considering that House lists often fill up two to three years in advance. Conditional places at 13+ are offered to those who are registered two years before entry and we greatly value the academic references which we request from a pupil’s prep school at this stage.
Unlike many senior schools, we do not pre-test pupils in Year 6 or Year 7 and we pride ourselves at working closely with our feeder schools to ensure that children entering Oundle at 13+ via the Common Entrance route have an established relationship with us prior to the June examination.
Do register with us.
This will help us to keep you informed as to the next stages of the admissions process, including any admissions-focused events at Oundle you may wish to attend and dates of relevant scholarships examinations. You may also opt into our School publications to give you a broader insight into the Oundle community.
