Oundle School and Laxton Junior School welcome those who wish to assist the day to day operations of the Schools on a volunteer basis. The Schools recognise Volunteers as a core part of their teams, with a distinctive but complementary role alongside paid staff.

There are three main types of Volunteer:

  • Occasional Volunteers who volunteer once, or perhaps a few times a year, e.g. accompanying school day trips.
  • Regular Volunteers who take on a particular task, on an ongoing basis, e.g. listening to infant readers on a weekly basis.
  • Committee members

Regular Volunteers and Committee members are unsupervised and have greater potential for access to pupils. Therefore, they are considered to be in regulated activity and have a degree of responsibility for safeguarding children and pupils. In recognition of this, and in line with the requirements of the Department for Education, all Regular Volunteers are required to complete recruitment checks and checks from the Disclosure and Barring Service as appropriate to the role.  Any conditional offer of a volunteering role with the Schools is subject to the satisfactory completion of the checks.

If you have been offered a role as a Regular Volunteer you will need to complete an application form to enable to School to begin your recruitment checks. When the completed form has been received by the HR Department, a member of our recruitment team will contact you regarding the next steps.
