Eleven students and two staff went to Buenos Aires on a ten day exchange this October Half Term. They stayed with families and experienced the Argentinean lifestyle. Lessons took place at the local school, Sta María de Luján, with most days also filled with other activities and organised trips.

Pupils visited the centre of Buenos Aires, including San Telmo, Recoleta and Boca neighbourhoods. They also visited La Bombonera stadium and the River Plate stadium, which football lovers particularly enjoyed. During the weekend, they went to a traditional Gaucho farm were they were treated to some local traditions, including a tango dance and other regional dances, as well as a horse race or “Carrera de la sortija”.

Argentinians are known for their hospitality, and pupils felt that they had arrived at a home from home right from the start, and full immersion in the Spanish language in a family environment ensured that pupils had many opportunities to improve their language skills. On the last day, families were incredibly sad to say goodbye to the pupils.
