Oundle School is one of the country’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools, with 860 boarding and 250 day pupils. A further 250 day pupils attend Laxton Junior School. 

The School is spread throughout the historic town of Oundle, which owns and maintains extensive grounds, gardens and sports surfaces, which are fully used throughout the year.   We are seeking a Gardener / Groundstaff to join the dedicated team which keeps the grounds and gardens in peak condition all year round.  

Our Gardener / Groundstaff undertake preparation and maintenance duties under the control of supervisor to provide first class sports facilities and amenity areas.   Although the role of gardener and groundstaff have specific horticultural requirements, both gardeners and groundstaff are part of the same team. The pride the team take in their work is evident in the results they achieve and both appreciated and acknowledged by the wider School community.

Hours of duty are 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday with one 30 minute paid meal break and one 30 minute unpaid meal break daily (40 paid hours per week).  The role involves seasonal overtime requirements which will be based on a rota and may include evening and weekend work.


To apply you will need to have experience using light equipment and machinery used in grounds and garden maintenance, be able to work outdoors in all seasons and be able to carry out manual work. A valid driving licence with no more than six points is essential.  Gardening or grounds maintenance experience and / or formal horticultural qualifications are desirable, but not essential.
