Cedric Arthur Jackson was a Yorkshire boy from Dore, on the outskirts of Sheffield, born in 1893. He spent two years in Grafton 1908-10, leaving at the age of 17. At the outbreak of war, he joined the York and Lancaster Regiment as a private. In May 1915, he gained his commission as 2nd Lieutenant and acted as Bombing Officer.
He served in Egypt and then France, being promoted Lieutenant in February 1917. In August that year, he got a transfer to the Royal Flying Corps and was accidentally killed while training in Dover on 5th November 1917, aged 24.
