in2txts
Conceived as a way to stimulate the younger members of the School's involvement with reading and books, the in2txts workshops have now become an annual event. The fourth in2txts programme was held over three days in the last week of the Trinity Quarter, 2005. The series of talks and activities aims to include three different speakers, usually a novelist, a poet and an illustrator, who spend a whole day at Oundle working with pupils in the First to Fourth Forms.
This year Brian Moses read his poems accompanied by percussive rhythms, enthralling the pupils in the First and Second Form, who asked for an encore.
Celia Rees’s recent novels have been based on extensive historical research. The fascinating background to her novel, Pirates!, captivated her Third Form audience, many of whom are already clearly fans of her work, and enjoyed the chance to meet her.
Ted Dewan awed the Fourth Form with an illustrated talk that demonstrated how studies in engineering, physics and electronic music contributed to his illustrating career that now spans national newspapers, children’s books, and fine art experiments ranging from the obsolete technology of film strip projectors, to the latest cutting edge application - cartoon strips that can be downloaded onto iPods.
Organised by the librarians in the School’s Cripps Library, the programme has previously featured authors such as Caroline Lawrence, Gillian Cross, William Nicholson, Jan Mark, and Andrew Fusek Peters.
