Oundle School Boat Club
Bedford Regatta, Saturday 12 May.
Oundle School Boat Club was founded in 1886, and has continued the traditions
of a quintessential public-school sport right up to the present day. In the
past, Oundle has succeeded in developing athletes from raw beginners into
prominent National and International Athletes.
The rowing programme is under the direction of Mr Maître and is supported
by Mr. Morgan and the Boatman, Mr. Aston. The Club is also supported by other
members of the teaching staff and Sports Fellows.
The School boat houses are located on the river Nene, with Oundle Boat House
used mainly for Third Form and Novices, whilst the Tansor Boat House is used
for Fourth Form and Seniors.
The Club produces competitive racing crews from all year groups. We compete
mainly at open events against other schools and clubs and we strive to ensure
that all members of the club represent the School. The sport is an option
for two Quarters, and everyone who rows is expected to participate during
the Trinity Quarter, which is the main national regatta season.
The Boat Club runs its own training camp in preparation for the regatta season
during the Easter holidays at Longridge, Marlow.
The Club competes at regular events throughout the school year. Notable events
include the Schools' Head of the River in London (March), the National Schools'
Regatta in Nottingham (May) and Henley Royal Regatta (July). The majority
of the racing takes place in regions closer to home, including events in Cambridge,
Peterborough, Bedford and St Neots amongst others. We arrange a number of
private matches against local rowing schools, notably Bedford Modern School
and King’s School, Ely.
Follow the Boat Club supporters on Facebook (run by parents). Please upload
any events photos to Facebook.
