Netball

Netball is a major sport for girls in the Easter Quarter. Most girls in the Third and Fourth form play the sport, and block fixtures can often involve eight teams from these years. Netball continues to be a popular and successful sport in the Senior years with numbers opting for the sport usually over fifty. There are eleven outdoor courts and one indoor court.

Fixtures: Each Saturday, and often on Tuesdays, block fixtures involving up to fourteen teams ensure that a large number of girls has the opportunity to represent the School at a wide range of levels. The matches are played in a very competitive but sporting spirit, and in recent seasons some Senior matches have resulted in close finishes with over seventy goals scored.

Tournament: Each year in January Oundle hosts an Invitation U18 Netball Tournament with ten schools taking part, including Uppingham, Oakham and Rugby. This tournament is now in its eighth year and has become a traditional opening event in the region at the start of the season.

Coaches: The Head of Netball is Ms Kate Fraser. Mrs Beverley Burnham is the 1st VII coach and she is also the County U18 coach and Assistant Coach in the All England Talent Camp. Many other full and part-time staff assist with teams and training with the aim of providing structured and enjoyable sessions where all girls can realise their potential in a very fast and skilful game.
