Girls Hockey

Since 1990 girls hockey at Oundle is a showpiece sport that has improved beyond measure. Oundle can now raise over twenty five teams that all play and compete with the very best sporting schools in the country. All the girls play hockey in the first two Quarters of the academic year.

Oundle regularly competes in the finals of the National Cup competition, placing them in the top ten in the country. OOs Sophie Carter and Victoria Knott have gone on to represent England at junior level. After leaving school many of the girls continue to play and contribute to top university sides with Alice Banks, Lucy Cooper and Victoria MacKay all playing for National League Clubs.

Girls teams regularly go on short UK tours, playing against both representative sides and university teams. Past oversees tours have been to South Africa, South America and Australasia, with the next one planned for 2014, visiting the Far East and New Zealand.

All coaching is led by Director of Hockey, Mr Gareth Terrett, who is a senior level 3 hockey coach. He has won twenty-five caps for Wales and represented them at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. He has coached both Wales U18 girls and boys teams. Assisting members of the Common Room are coaching staff who have play National League or have top level experience.
