Athletics

Athletics has a long history as a sport within the School, the first fixture being recorded in 1862. It is offered throughout the Trinity Quarter and the School puts out teams from the Third Form through to the Sixth Form. There are often as may as seventy athletes competing in a fixture. The whole School inter-house Sports Day is held in the Trinity Quarter and involves pupils in the First to Sixth Forms.

Fixtures: The School has block fixtures against schools such as Oakham, Uppingham, Rugby, Bromsgrove and Repton. In addition, athletes compete in District, County and English Schools' competitions, as well as in the National Prep Schools' competition.

Achievements: Several athletes qualify to run for Northamptonshire County each year. Pupils who achieved success in other competitions include Cassie Vaz, who was National Prep Schools' U13 100m champion, and Emily Sherlock who was an English Schools' multi-events national finalist. Recent English Schools competitors include: pentathlon, Emily Sherlock;
1500m, Emily Kier and Sophie Reynolds; 800m, Holly Rice; long jump, Honor DeWinton; decathlon and shot, Douglas Stark; heptathlon, Honor DeWinton.

Coaches: Miss Goatly (i/c Athletics) assisted by members of the Common Room with expertise in a range of events.
