PSHE Programme

First Form

Pupils meet with House Tutors on a Quarterly basis. Materials are provided as a stimulus for discussions centering on the following:

• How to behave in School
• Practical School Issues (including Time Management, Organisation and Prep)
• Hygiene and Periods
• Exams and Revision

Second Form

Pupils meet with House Tutors on a Quarterly basis. Materials are provided as a stimulus for discussions centering on the following:

• Leadership and Moving up to the Second Form
• Relationships (including Friendships, Relations with the Local Community and Bullying)
• Sex Education
• Exam Revision and Moving up to the Senior School

Third Form

Pupils meet with Hsms and Tutors on a weekly basis. Materials are provided as stimulus for discussion on a wide variety of topics. Occasionally sessions take the form of lectures from outside speakers. Themes include:

• Settling In and Making the most out of Oundle
• including Bullying, Time Management, Money Management, Learning Styles and Self Evaluation

• Rights and Responsibilities
• including the School Rules, Responsible use of the Internet, Children and the Law, Crime Prevention and Personal Safety, Community Awareness and Environmental Issues

• Health Education
• including Healthy Eating and Eating Disorders, Sex and Relationships Education, Alcohol, Smoking and Drugs Education

• Academic Choices and Study Support
• including GCSE Option Choices and Preparations for Exams

At the end of each Quarter there is an opportunity for self appraisal, which feeds into the process of measuring progress and goal setting for the next Quarter in Full Tutorials.

Fourth Form

Pupils attend a programme of occasional lectures delivered by outside speakers. The primary focus for these is to build on the Sex and Relationships and Drugs Education provided in the Third Form. These lectures are followed up in Houses in informal discussion groups led by House Tutors.

Each House group also receives an individual Coursework Guidance session led by a member of our Educational Support Department. These take place in Houses during the Easter Quarter of the Fourth Form.

Fifth Form

Each House group receives an individual Revision Skills session led by a member of our Educational Support Department. These take place in Houses prior to the practice GCSE exams in the Christmas Quarter.

Lower Sixth

Pupils attend a programme of occasional lectures delivered by outside speakers under the general theme of ‘Wider Horizons’. Talks include a range of topics including areas such as HIV/AIDS, Bullying in the Workplace and the Teenage Cancer Trust. These lectures are followed up in Houses in informal discussion groups led by House Tutors.
