Laxton
Latest news available here.
Oundle's day pupils join Laxton. Day pupils currently make up approximately one-fifth of the School's total numbers, with boys and girls in almost equal proportion. Many day pupils join the Senior School from Laxton Junior, which is co-educational from four years of age.
Laxton's buildings occupy the attractive churchyard site of the original Guild School, which Oundle's founder, Sir William Laxton, attended. They consist of the Cloisters, used for daily registration and other functions, the Long Room, used for additional assemblies, concerts and lectures, and common rooms. A cafeteria system provides lunch for Laxton pupils in the School Refectory.
Laxton pupils are expected to play a full part in the academic, sporting and cultural life of the School, and the facilities on offer enable every pupil to follow a wide range of interests. Although many day pupils travel considerable distances to and from Oundle, they make a major contribution to all aspects of school life - even, voluntarily, on Sundays. It is one of Oundle's most distinctive characteristics that boarders and day pupils are educated alongside one another in a friendly, relaxed yet positive and dynamic way.
