Daily and Weekly Routine

Laxton pupils are expected to play a full part in the academic, sporting and cultural life of the School, and the facilities on offer enable every pupil to follow a wide range of interests. Although many day pupils travel considerable distances to and from Oundle, they make a major contribution to all aspects of school life - even, voluntarily, on Sundays.

Every day (including Saturday) starts with registration in Laxton Cloisters between 8:00am and 8:25am. Lessons then take place every morning with a break mid-way. Morning lessons end at 12:45pm Monday to Friday, and at 12:10pm on Saturdays. Lunch is taken in the School Refectory in two sittings.

The end of the day is variable, depending upon the age of the pupil and season of the year. Collection time is normally between 4:00pm and 6:00pm but may be much later if there is an evening lecture or theatre event to attend. Pupils are encouraged to work in the library doing their prep while waiting for lifts. Pupils who are involved in late evening activities are able to take an evening meal in a boarding house.

Every pupil attends School Chapel once a week before lunch. There is sport on three afternoons a week, and either lessons or activities (for example CCF or Community Action activities) on the other three afternoons.
