At the heart of Laundimer House is a fine Victorian Town House, once the residence of Robert (later Baron) Vernon Smith, who was MP for Northampstonshire in the mid-nineteenth century. The House on one side stands on North Street, a short walk to the town centre and most of the School's teaching areas, and on the other aspect faces its own enclosed garden and tennis court. Since its original acquisition by the School in 1916, Laundimer House has been altered and extended greatly; the last major refurbishment was completed in 2000. It now houses a maximum of 62 boys from 13 to 18 years of age.
Mr Hammond-Chambers arrived at Oundle seven years ago, and has run the Geography Department for the past three years. He wife is a Physiotherapist with the NHS, and they have one son. He coaches cricket and rugby, and is interested in skiing and travel.
In addition to the Housemaster the House has a team of seven tutors: Mr Ambrose (Religious Studies); Mr Forge (Modern Languages, School Archivist); Mr King (Biology); Mr Meatyard (Physics); Mr Morrison (Classics); Dr Quiddington (Chemistry and Deputy Housemaster) and Dr Stephen (Chemistry).
