Kirkby house Mrs D Watt

Kirkeby was built in 1990 to accommodate Oundle's first girl boarders. The House takes its name from Joan Kirkeby, the wife of Sir William Laxton who endowed and refounded the School in 1556. It is situated on Pavilion Drive, surrounded by playing fields, and linked to Wyatt House and the School Sanatorium. The House has capacity for a maximum of 65 girls between the ages of 13 and 18. The accommodation includes studies and dormitories for the Third and Fourth Forms and bedsits for the senior year groups, and there are also a number of spacious common areas.

Mrs Watt is married with two children. She has taught Latin, Greek and Classical Civilisation at Oundle since 1996 and became Housemistress in 2001 and Head of Personal, Social and Health Education in 2006. Her interests lie primarily in the Arts, particularly Music, and she enjoys reading, cycling, skiing and travel when the opportunity presents itself.

The House is assisted by its team of seven Tutors: Mr Chambers, resident Deputy Housemaster (Head of Classics); Mr Oddie (Art: Sculpture); Mrs Mola (Head of Spanish); Mr Gibbon (Head of Strings); Mr Raudnitz (English); Miss Goatly (P.E.); and Dr Rowe (Biology); and Matron, Miss Wood.

Mrs Meisner will become Housemistress in September 2009.
