Dryden was built in 1938, was converted from a boys' house to a girls' house in 1993, and currently cares for 62 girls between the ages of 13 to 18. Dryden is situated just north of the centre of Oundle, overlooking Home Close and the site of the new SciTec development. The house is named after the seventeenth century poet John Dryden, who was born locally in the village of Aldwincle. The irony now is that as one of the great misogynists John Dryden may well be turning in his grave to think that his name is linked with girls boarding! We are, however, proud to carry the name of such a great writer.
Mrs. Nunn is married with two children, and has taught Religious Studies and Geography at Oundle since 1990. She also coordinates the School's Study Support programme for Sixth Formers. Her interests include music, gardening, travel and sport.
Mrs. Nunn is supported by a team of seven tutors: Mr Atkins (Head of Mathematics); Miss L Barnwell (Resident Assistant Housemistress, Head of Girls' Games and Geography); Mrs. Briggs (Geography); Miss Dovey (History); Mr King (Physical Education); Miss H Machin (Modern Languages); and Miss L McCormack (Religious Studies).
