The Berrystead Dr W F Holmstrom

Built in the late seventeenth century as a gentleman's town house, The Berrystead is a handsome Grade I listed building close to the centre of town. It is now home to approximately forty boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 13 - a truly co-educational boarding House. (Please see the admissions page for details of entry to the Berrystead.) The House has extensive gardens to the rear, with ample area for the children to play.

The Housemaster, Dr Holmstrom, joined Oundle to teach Biology in 1986, and is married to Margaret who also teaches Biology. They have three children. Dr. Holmstrom is keen on outdoor pursuits, including running, climbing and kayaking. In addition to the matron who lives in her own accommodation within the House, two resident tutors live in houses in the grounds.

In addition to the Housemaster and Mrs Holmstrom, the House has a team of six tutors: Mr Aubrey (Classics, Resident Tutor and Housemaster elect), Mr Butterworth (Mathematics); Mrs Clay (Educational Support); Mrs Lane (Physics, Resident Tutor); Miss Langford (PE); and Mr Lewins (Modern Languages).

Mr Aubury, who will become Housemaster in September 2010, worked for five years in a London advertising agency. In 2004, he decided to re-train as a Classics teacher, and joined the School in September 2005. He has been Deputy Housemaster of the Berrystead since September 2006. He lives with his wife and their three boys. His interests include rugby, cricket, guitar playing, boating and cryptic crosswords.
