Charity Notices

In 2008, Oundle School would like to channel all its charitable fundraising through the website www.justgiving.com. This provides us with a paper-free system and also allows automatic Gift Aid reclaim on the donations made.

If you would prefer to make donations by post, however, please send cheques, made payable to Oundle School, with a covering note explaining for which venture the donation is given, to Mr S. Clayton, Oundle School, New Street, Oundle PE8 4EE

Running for MIND

I have chosen to run my first ever half-marathon on the 5th October (the Great North Run) because my grandfather is suffering from Alzheimers. I am supporting a charity called MIND which is the leading mental health charity in this country. Mind is a charity dedicated to helping and supporting people with mental illnesses.

I already have a justgiving page (www.justgiving.com/rosiepease) which I hope you will visit, and consider sponsoring me in my efforts to raise money for such a good cause.

The Music Festival 2008

Henry Middleditch (F) and Oliver Murphy (F) are organising a music festival in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. The week long event will take place in the Michaelmas Quarter of 2008 and they hope to emulate the success of the last festival organised by Toby Baker in 2006.

The boys are hoping that Oundle parents will help them in their efforts to get the festival up and running. The easiest way to help is through a donation; if you would like to help, please use the Justgiving link. All donations will go towards the organisation and success of the event (with news of important develpoments to follow!) If you have any expertise or contacts in any of the following areas then Henry and Oli would be delighted to hear from you: the music industry! lighting, logistics, catering, merchandise.

It is an excellent cause and the event will be one of the highlights of the next academic year. Thank you in anticipation of your support.

The OCV Calendar

Order a calendar now. Full details available here.

The Flying Camels Group (Part of Oundle Charity Venturers) has produced a unique and ambitious 16 month calendar. The calendar runs from September 2008 until December 2009, providing useful dates from the Oundle School year, such as Parents' Receptions, Quarter dates and Speech Days.

The images for the calendar are teachers acting out scenes from famous films. Mr Pedley fled frantically from a biplane over Christmas acting the famous crop-dusting scene from North by Northwest. Mr Watson sang loudly in the rain outside School House, and Mr Collier plans to save the world as Superman in weeks to come.

The project is in aid of ORBIS UK, an eye charity working in Ethiopia and other impoverished countries.
