SciTec update
June 15th has seen the last major pouring of concrete to form the substructure of the SciTec building. On each of three separate occasions in the last two weeks over 400 tons of concrete has been transferred into the foundations using a 30m remote arm.
Two huge mobile cranes are still on site as the arrival of the main tower crane, being manufactured in Spain, is awaited. Vast amounts of steel reinforcement for the exterior and interior walls are being assembled on site and subsequently installed, and the clear outlines of laboratories, corridors and prep rooms are now apparent. The building will soon rapidly grow from its foundations as large sections of concrete form-work are erected.
Lengthy discussions to finalise the details of all internal fittings and finishes continue to take place. The project is on schedule and it is impressive to watch its speedy realisation.
A gallery of images of the project, which will be updated frequently, can be found here.
