Broadcasting to the World
Three Oundle School pupils were chosen to represent the School at a recent audition held at the BBC World Service Headquarters, Bush House, London.
Ten pupils, selected by the English Department, sent off recordings to the BBC, and three were selected to visit London on Saturday 4th November. Jack McCracken (Sc), Camilla McConnell (W) and Sophie Tamlyn (D)attended a series of seminars, individual voice coaching, and a tour of the BBC World Service.
Out of the eleven candidates who attended the day, Sophie was amongst those
who had successfully got through into the final five. The BBC have now put
their voices online, and are asking people to vote for their preferred choice.
The voting will be completed by 20th November, and the winners will then be
given a contract by the BBC for the week's broadcast, which will take place
between the 2nd - 10th December 2006.
For more information and to vote for Sophie, visit the BBC
World Service website.

Sophie did not win the competition, but was commended by Steve Martin, the On Air Editor of the BBC World Service, who said:
"Knowing this I'd like to pay special tribute to Dan, Sophie and Jack whose recordings were very warmly received by many listeners. I have no doubt that you will each be fine broadcasters if that's a career you wish to pursue."
