Clay Pigeon Club goes to Nationals

This has been another successful year for the Oundle School Clay Pigeon Club. Following our earlier victory this year against Oakham, on the 8th of May, 2005 twelve pupils from Oundle shot at the British Independent Schools’ National Championships at “Sporting Targets” near Riseley, Bedfordshire.

The ‘A’ Team came in at 11th out of 19 schools, and the ‘B’ team were placed 13th. John Atkins (B) and Ed Earnshaw (B) were the ‘A’ team’s high-guns, both with scores of 32 out of 50.

Clay pigeon shooting at Oundle involves a number of U6th pupils shooting at Wittering Grange just outside Oundle on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons during the Easter Quarter. In addition, the teams shooting at the Nationals were also comprised of pupils who attend the Sunday meetings, where pupils of any age and experience are welcome.
