OSJO in Peterborough

The Oundle School Jazz Orchestra, OSJO, had dozens of dancing youngsters getting into the swing with a taste of traditional jazz in the sunshine. Shoppers at the Herlington Centre, in Orton Malborne, Peterborough, were given a pleasant surprise during the weekly outdoor market when the School jazz orchestra entertained people for the afternoon on Wednesday 28 September, in an event organised by Sure Start Orton.

Sure Start Orton’s Children Centre provides opportunities for local youngsters to play and work creatively. Alli Collier, learning and development co-ordinator for the charity said, “Having a jazz band playing on the Herlington Centre is not a sight you see every day, and people reacted really well. The children from the pre-school danced around and a lot of shoppers paused to enjoy the music. It was also a good experience for the band, who have never played in a shopping centre before.”
